Praveen Kumar is an old-fashioned swing bowler in
the Manoj Prabhakar mould. When he gets the wrist position right, which
he does more often than not, he swings the ball both ways, and is an
impact bowler with the new ball. His lack of pace makes him a bit
ineffective with the old ball, and only a limited-overs prospect as of
now, but it can be argued that if he goes after pace, he might lose the
swing. Even with the limited pace, he is a street-smart bowler, and uses
the changes of pace smartly.
Strengths
Swing, the ability to operate within his limitations, and an intuitive knowledge of how to take wickets on flat pitches.

Expert view
"He will swing it at the start and that why he is in
the team - to take wicket with the new ball. He will most likely bowl
all his overs before the final death overs" - Sanjay Manjrekar, commentator and former India batsman
